"She just brings a little bit something different and fresh to Max Factor," explains Caroline Barnes, Max Factor's make-up artist and member of the judging panel for The Face, Sky Living's modelling competition headed up by Naomi Campbell.

The half Jamaican half Dutch 18-year-old winner Emma Holmes was announced on last night's show. "When we saw the catwalk we were absolutely convinced Emma was the best," says Barnes. "When she walked the catwalk you really did stand up and take attention. For us, she just kind of had a little bit of an edge on the rest of the girls," says Scott Bradley, Max Factor Creative Director.

"She has a really original look and she has quite a unique look. She has very strong eyes, beautiful lips, very high cheekbones," says Barnes. And for the Max Factor campaign - which came with the territory of winning the series - "we really wanted to play to Emma's strengths," says Bradley. "You know she's got a very strong face, she's a very beautiful girl. But slightly in an unconventional way, so we wanted to play with that a little bit. She reminded us of Marlene Dietrich who was one of Max Factor's first creations when he was working with all of his film stars in the 1930s and 1940s."

As Bradley explains this high glamour campaign for Max Factor, Holmes's first, ended up being a little bit of a nod to the beauty brand's high glamour heritage.

Speaking backstage Holmes explained how being on The Face was like nothing she'd done before. "You're constantly trying to prove yourself. Because, there's 11 other girls in the competition, and you know you need to do what it takes to win. And at the same time you've also got to work within teams so it's kinda hard to juggle," the winner says.

Still in shock Holmes won't believe she's won until she sees the Max Factor campaign in the magazines or on a billboard. "When I won at first I actually didn't think that she said my name becuase all of our names being with 'E'. So I looked around and then Naomi started crying and I realised it was me."

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was of course her mentor during the show. "Naomi was three things: she was harsh, fair and incredibly caring. If there was anything I ever needed to talk to her about she was there. And It was really weird actually being able to just speak to her whenever I wanted to whilst we're filming. Even now, when we're not on the show anymore, she has said if you ever need anything you can just call me or text and me - and that's surreal because it's Naomi Campbell!"
