Being a child star may seem like a dream come true, but for many people, dealing with the pressure of the spotlight at such a young age only goes on to create problems. In fact, it seems like the majority of former child stars find themselves struggling with adulthood, and some are even willing to do anything to separate themselves from their younger image. Unfortunately, there are very few child stars who gone on to have successful careers as adults, and some have even damaged their brands by taking on roles that left their fans feeling confused. Although nobody can stay the same forever, some changes are harder to swallow than others. Here are 10 former child stars who went on to star in racy roles.
Daniel Radcliffe
For a decade, Daniel Radcliffe was known to fans as Harry Potter, and viewers all over the world enjoyed watching him grow up before their eyes. However, when the franchise released its final movie in 2011, Daniel Radcliffe was determined to make sure that he would be remembered for more than just Harry Potter. In an attempt to break free from the child-like role and prove his talent, Radcliffe chose a string of ‘provocative’ roles including a role as a neo-nazi in film Imperium which is slated to be released in 2016.

Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez was once known as a wholesome young star whose starring role on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly place made her a household name. However, since the show’s conclusion in 2012, Gomez has broken out of her child star shell, and gone on to take on racier roles. In 2013, she starred in the R rated film, Spring Breakers which follows a group of female college friends who met a drug dealer during their spring break. Many parents of Selena’s young fans felt like her role in the movie was inappropriate and did not send a positive message to her young fan base.

Elizabeth Berkley
Best-known for her role as Jessica ‘Jessie’ Spano on the hit sitcom, Saved by The Bell, Elizabeth Berkley was once one of the most familiar faces on TV. Unfortunately, after her time on Saved by The Bell, her career took a bit of a downturn and in 1995, she attempted to revive thing say starring in the film Showgirls in which she portrayed a stripper. Many people were shocked to see her in such a provocative role, and aside from that, the movie was huge flop.

Lindsay Lohan
There was once a time when Lindsay Lohan was the golden girl of Disney movies. After a string of success movies as a child star, Lohan’s career seemed to be on the up and up, and fans couldn’t wait to see what the future had in store for her. However, after dealing with substance abuse issues and legal troubles, Lohan’s career took a turn for the worst, and her role in the 2013 film, The Canyons certainly didn’t help. Her role in the movie required her to get naked, and lots of people just couldn’t believe the child star was willing to bare it all for a $200,00 pay check.

Christian Bale
With all the success he’s had as an adult, it can be hard to believe that Christian Bale was once a child star. However, the 41-year-old began his career in the late 80s when he was still just a kid. Over the course of his career, he’s been fortunate enough to star in some pretty popular films, but his role as Patrick Bateman in the 2000 film, American Psycho was definitely one for the ages. It’s never easy to watch a former child star turn into an on-screen murderer, but Bale definitely killed the role (no pun intended).

Alyssa Milano
Alyssa Milano rose to fame in 1984 for her role in the popular TV series, Who’s The Boss? Although she had already built an impressive fan base in her early years, once she reached adulthood, she was determined to leave the child’s play in the past. Over the years, Milano has had several pretty racy roles, including multiple nude film scenes. In fact, it’s gotten to the point where people have started to question whether she has any actual talent, or if she’s gotten by on her good looks.

Dakota Fanning
Since the beginning of her career, fans and critics have been wowed with Dakota Fanning’s impressive acting chops. Even as a child, it was clear that she had the skills to leave a real impact on the acting world. However, at 21, Dakota is all grown up, and she’s ready to show the world. Last year, her role in the film, Very Good Girls, left a lot of people stunned when it was revealed that she would be involved in a nude scene. Fanning described the scene as,” kind of a sensitive thing, but it’s a part of life.”

For four seasons, Jaimee Foxworth was a cast member on the popular 90s sitcom, Family Matters. However, when her character was suddenly written out of the show, Foxworth disappeared from the spotlight. However, years later, Foxworth reappeared, and was using the name “Crave” to star in several adult films.

Lisa Bonet
Lisa Bonet gained mainstream success for her role as Denise Huxtable on the beloved Cosby Show. Although she was loved by fans, it was no secret that she and Bill Cosby were having some serious disagreements behind the scenes, and part of the rift between the two was caused by her choice to star in the 1987 film in which her character was extremely sexualized. As you can imagine, being nude in a film and being part of America’s favorite TV family don’t really mix well.

Macaulay Culkin
At the height of his career, Macaulay Culkin was the most popular child star in the business. His starring role in the Home Alone films have made him a household name, and people couldn’t get enough of the cute blonde haired kid. However, in 2003, Culkin proved that he was completely ready to shed the clean-cut image when he starred in the film, Party Monster. In the film, he played the role of Michael Alig, a real life figure, who murdered a man in 1996.
